Congratulations to all runners, and particularly to the many students who received a ribbon for finishing in the top ten! See below for photos and more details.

Art Gallery

Year 1 & 2 - Collage Portraits

Year 1/2s have created self-portrait collages, beginning with learning about the proportions of the face and where to add cut out images of eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Students designed their Wallington school uniform on paper, drawing details of a collar and buttons on their polo shirt.  Year 1/2s selected paper closest to their hair colour and cut out shapes to resemble hair and then glued their school hat over the top. Name tags were created using bubble writing and decorated with art elements pattern and line. They look fantastic!  Well done Year 1 & 2!

Physical Education News

District Cross Country

Yesterday, 27 students from Years 3-6 represented our school at the District Cross Country, held at the Geelong Botanic Gardens. With perfect running conditions, our students gave their best efforts against competitors from other Bellarine schools.

The 9/10-year-old groups completed a 2km circuit, while the 11 and 12/13-year-old groups ran 3km. We had a number of impressive performances, with students from each age group qualifying for the next stage of competition.

A standout performance came from Clancy, who finished first in the 12/13 Boys race, and Kiyomi, who won the 12/13 Girls race, finishing well ahead of her competitors and even passing several of the boys who had started two minutes earlier than her.

Our students also displayed great sportsmanship throughout the day. Clancy was particularly recognised for his actions at the finish line, where he congratulated his competitors and stayed to support his peers as they completed their races.

Congratulations to all students who participated, and thank you to our parent volunteers and Miss Lily for assisting as course marshals. It was a great day, and we appreciate everyone’s support.

Junior School Council

JSC Site Tour

Yesterday Junior School Council went for a tour of the new building. Mark the site boss showed us all the spaces and explained what everyone was doing.

It was exciting to be able to go inside and see what was happening. One builder was making the frame smooth, so it was ready for plaster. Other people were putting in windows and doors and the wiring for the lights. Another person was laying bricks, and we got to touch the cement he was using.

We found out that there are two classrooms, and meeting rooms, storage rooms and wellbeing spaces. They are also putting in a toilet. We asked Mark lots of questions and he gave us lots of interesting information.

Like the doors at the end of the hallway are going so the hallway will be longer. And that the building will be finished after the end of May

The best part of the tour was touching the cement and going in the building.

Harmony Day

Thank you to everyone who joined in Harmony Day. We raised $154 to go towards the junior basketball rings. We have almost finished the Harmony Day tree, so have a look when you are in the hallway.

Wellbeing at Wallington

Welcome back to Wallington’s weekly wellbeing activities.

This week's activity continues to focus on ways you can support your child when they’re experiencing moments of stress and overwhelm. To get an idea of the sort of activities that your child finds regulating you can ask what sorts of brain breaks they enjoy in class; we use brain breaks during learning time to reset, refocus and create moments of connection.

Make a list of their favourite activities and have a discussion about what activities work for you, are there any activities that work for both you and your child?
